Mr. Hideo Ito is a senior level executive with more than 34 years of leadership within one of the world’s most recognized companies; Toshiba Corporation. Currently, he serves as Toshiba Corporate Representative for the Americas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Toshiba America, Inc.
Mr. Ito launched his business career in 1969 when he joined Toshiba Corp. (then Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co., Ltd.) assigned to the International Cooperation Division. In 1979, he was transferred to Toshiba-General Electric, Toshiba Silicone Co., Ltd. as Manager of Strategic Business Planning for a joint venture with General Electric.
Subsequent to that, he returned to Toshiba as Manager International Business Planning and Operations for the Semiconductor Group where he was responsible for the operations of overseas manufacturing companies in the U. S., Germany, Malaysia and Mexico. Under his leadership, International strategic alliances with U.S. and European semiconductor companies such as Siemens, SGS-Thomson, LSI Logic, Motorola and Cadence were established.
Following that, Mr. Ito held various senior level executive positions serving as Senior Vice President of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), General Manager of TAEC’s Microelectronics Center (TAIMEC) in Sunnyvale, California, Senior Manager-International Business Planning PC Division and General Manager International Operations-Electronic Components.
In 1995 Mr. Ito was promoted to General Manager Semiconductor Marketing and Sales Division, directing worldwide marketing and domestic sales of semiconductors and liquid crystal displays.
Mr. Ito served as Chairman and CEO of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. for 3 years before returning to Japan as the
General Manager, International Division of Toshiba Corporation and following that, General Manager of Corporate Communication Division.
Upon being appointed Toshiba Corporate Representative for the Americas and Chairman and CEO of Toshiba America, Inc., Mr. Ito relocated to New York City where he now resides.
Mr. Ito holds a bachelor’s degree in International Law and History of Western Political Thoughts from the International Christian University (Tokyo Japan) School of Liberal Arts, and a graduate degree in International Business Management and Management Theory from Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana) Graduate School of Business. |
